LIQUID LOVE

A ‘Life-Saving Seva’ Initiative By Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Delhi-NCR

“You owe your existence in this world to the love of your parents. Hence, whenever there is a need for blood donation, you should come forward to donate your blood. Thereby fulfil your obligation to your parents and society.” - Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba (Divine Discourse, 1 January 2004)

World over, blood donation is a voluntary and noble cause that has a life-saving impact as it involves collection of blood from a healthy person to be used for transfusions and medical treatments. As part of an endeavour to save life, blood donation marks a vital process that helps save countless lives every year.

Year after year, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Delhi-NCR actively collaborates with AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) to organise regular blood donation camps.

Under the "Liquid Love" campaign, led by the Service wing of the SSSSO Delhi NCR and Sri Sathya Sai Young Messengers (SSSYM), Delhi-NCR, these camps held across Delhi-NCR collect 900-1000 units annually and the liquid love collected is used by AIIMS during critical procedures for their most needy patients who have urgent requirements.  Notably, this noble endeavour of blood donations every year is a ‘Seva’ which also means no fee is charged as this endeavour in association with AIIMS is provided free of cost on an urgent need basis.

Blood Donation Camps At Sri Sathya Sai International Centre, Lodhi Road

Twice a year, the Blood Donations Camps are organised at Sri Sathya Sai International Center, Lodhi Road, once during Swami's Aradhana Month (April) and the second is during Swami’s Birthday month (November), and once a year during Swami’s Birthday month in four districts including Gurgaon District, West District, North District and in Faridabad District.

This year as part of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s 99th Birthday Celebrations, the Sri Sathya Sai Young Messengers is once again organising a nation-wide blood donation camp. In the spirit of “Aid through Love”, this Pan-India Blood Donation Camp invites all to be a part of it!

Our collaboration with AIIMS ensures that the blood donation initiative prioritises safety and donor care.

A team of AIIMS professionals, including dietitians and doctors, meticulously screen over 2000+ potential donors and for those unable to donate, the team offers personalised health and wellness advice, empowering them to strive towards future eligibility for blood donations.

These camps attract active participation from not only devotees but also corporates, colleges, and institutions and provide a good outreach opportunity for Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Delhi-NCR.

Apart from holding Blood Donation Camps, Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Delhi-NCR maintains a dedicated network of blood donors through a well managed database and a 200 member active and energetic WhatsApp group. This network enables an additional 400-500 donations annually, thereby providing timely support during urgent needs.

Bhagawan’s message ‘Love All, Serve All’ is a continuous journey for all devotees and Seva Dals.

The journey of Love and Service does not conclude with donations. Through our Seva Dals, we are able to continue our efforts to connect with donors via follow-up calls and thoughtful messages, expressing our gratitude and inquiring about their well-being. This personal touch, infused with the teachings of our beloved Bhagawan, creates a nurturing experience for donors and fosters a sustained, heartfelt community that is ready to support each other at any time.

Why Blood Donation Matters

Blood donations can save precious human life. Despite the remarkable strides in medical science, there remains a profound truth: the human body is the only ‘factory’ capable of producing the life-giving elixir we call blood. For many patients, they are at the cusp of an invisible border that separates them from life and death - which is why ‘Liquid Love’ in the form of blood donation can make a huge difference.

Across India, the data we have on blood donations is abysmal if one were to consider the requirements of a country as diverse and large as ours.  Only 1% of the population in India donate blood each year. While 14.6 Million units is our requirement every year, we suffer an annual deficit of 2 Million units.

Let us not forget; Blood is a renewable source: the body replenishes the donated blood within a few weeks, allowing donors to give multiple times a year.

Most importantly, a unit of donated liquid love can save up to five lives!

Please join us in this Liquid Love Drive and become part of a legacy that nurtures life and spreads love through the simple yet profound act of blood donation.
