Though there are many path-ways to God realization, yet the easiest among them is the path of Service - for it is not confined to any boundaries or borders and completely secular in nature. Service essentially is a spontaneous feeling for serving and helping the needy in any form.
In other words, service is actually the true character of the human body. The service is rendered in communities across the globe and in the national capital with an underlying concept of “the person who serves is the person served”.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba says, ‘Love All Serve All’, Help Ever Hurt Never’ and ‘The Hands that serve are holier than the lips that pray’. Encompassing this Divine concept, the service wing of the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisation, coordinates internally to help compliment the activities of the spiritual and educational wing as well.
The volunteers of the Service Wing are affectionately termed as ‘seva dals’ and work with united loving spirit radiating the love of the Lord in their activities, completely in equanimity with their thoughts, words, and deeds.
Activities of the Service Wing
The ‘Seva Dal’ members of the wing involve themselves in the up liftment of the needy by performing acts of service in ‘Jhuggi clusters’ or back-ward villages by organizing free medical camps, conducting free tutorial classes, performing Narayanan Seva (feeding of the poor), besides self-sustaining the unemployed villagers by imparting education on field trade crafts, etc.
The service wing identifies the needy communities of the society and conducts the all important medical tests at its medical camps often attended by esteemed senior doctors of the locality and in most cases takes up the treatment of the villagers to a certain possible extent or guides them accordingly. Off late, a new dimension to the service wing has been added in the form of conducting disaster management/ awareness training sessions not only to its own members but also to school children and villagers. The activity chiefly includes performing of rescue acts to save victims in case of natural calamities.
The Seva dal members also visit hospitals to perform kar-seva where they work dedicated in cleaning not only the wards but also the bathrooms and toilets in the premises.
The moto of the service wing remains – Service rendered to Humans is Service rendered to God.
